Just installed a front no-slip locker. Checked my backlash and it's at .003". Ok or not?

Backlash for a Dana 30 should be between .004" - .008".

Did you check backlash in more than one location? I usually check in about 6 spots all around the ring gear. It shouldn't vary by more than .002".

Personally, if it were me, at .003" I'd leave it alone. That's close enough.

If you're the type of person that's going to be irritated about it then I'd run a couple patterns. If it looks bad reset them. If they look fine. Roll with it.

 

Alldata says. 005-.009. I only checked one place. Ill check it in a couple places. Ive never messed with gears i just figured id check them since i pulled it to install the locker.

 

It's .003" all around. Maybe down to .0027" in a couple spots.

 

Had I read your s/n before I posted I probably wouldn't have said anything to your conceited ***.

.003 will be fine.

Like I said, if you want to be **** about it then set em up. It's not hard.
