Well I just got a great deal on some axles for my jeep. A buddy of mine is doing a one ton swap on his tj and he needed some money. I picked up his lp 30 4.88s (1mo old warranty replaced) ox locker and chromo shafts/ D44 rear 4.88s full spool and chromo shafts for 1400. The ring and pinions were redone on both axles in the last 6 months. Id say its a pretty good deal. the 44 is a factory rear out of his rocky mountain addition tj.
I have been looking for places to get what I will need to set up the rear axle. ruff stuff seems to be the only place to have it all in one kit. Im just not sure if thats the best source or if I can even get it all in pieces at a better price.
Last question: despite many searches here and google I cant find a good right up on setting up the perches and shock mounts on the rear axle. I am a good welder and have been doing fab work in shipyards for many years. I have the skills to set it up just wanted to find a write up with a few pointers on how to do it. Any source on this would be a little more knowledge than I have now lol.

Ruffstuffspecialties is a great company with great customer service and there parts are top notch and reasonably priced. Im not sure if anyone else has a kit but I know barnes4wd and polyperformance should also have everything you need for your axle swap.
Thank you very much. I am looking everywhere for info on this tj dana 44 rear axle. As far as I know its the same axle from the rubicon just minus the locker. Some articles I have read say its a 2.75" axle tube which would make it the same size as my turdy five and eliminate the need to buy new spring plates an u bolts. If anybody has a a link with an accurate break down of the specs of a 04 tj dana 44 axle that would be great too!

if you do this swap you NEED to buy new U bolts, they are NOT re-useable. a lot of people do reuse them but it is not a safe practice

Pretty sure it's the same size but replace the u bolts because they stretch and it's always a good idea to change them when you pull an axle.
Even if they are grade 8 an came with my long arm kit that has been on less than a year?

Ruffstuff's simple swap kit is just that,very easy. Swapped in a 9" using their kit. Easiest way is to mock everything up and measure the space between the axle flange and leaf mount. Then set pinion angle.
Yea the tj front is a direct bolt in. It's a low pinion 30 do I'm taking a step back there but for an ox locker an fresh 4.88s plus chromoly shafts it was worth it.
Ruff stuff looks like the best deal. It's cheaper some places but the shipping is really high. I think I'm gonna order the kit this weekend. Not sure if I like the flat shock tabs but I have a acetylene torch. It shouldn't be much trouble to snipe them to the axle
