Axle swap 89 Jeep xj ..help
So I think I have a blown pinion bearing in my 89 jeepxj. My mechanic wants $1,000 to do a full rebuild on a Dana 35 non c-clip. But my car isn't worth that much. So I was thinking about doing an axle swap but I do not know my gear ratio. It is a Dana 35 non c-clip for a 89 Jeep Cherokee. If anybody has any information and what would be a good gear ratio without having to pop the diff cover off. I'm not looking at doing any crazy off-roading maybe a little here and there I just want my Jeep to run right. Any help would be much appreciated thank you.

Been posts suggesting that late manufactured '96 XJ's were 29 spline 8.25's. Mine was made in late Sept. Recently did a disc conversion and my axles are 27 spline. So '97+ is the way to be sure w/o a lot of boneyard work.
