I don't think the axles are the same between a WJ & an XJ.

I'd check Craig's list for a Dana30 out of an XJ 96 - 01 will be a straight swap. You just gotta know your gear ratio & match that to what you're buying. If you've got an 01 you may have ABS.

Since your replacing it might as well upgrade. Your axle 00-01 are low pinions. Get one from a 95-99. High pinion, large ujoints and stronger gears. A ZJ axle will also bolt in but it is also low pinion.

I agree would be a good time to upgrade to a high pinion from a 96-99 XJ.

I'm looking at upgrading my axles from low to high pinion too, for you people that suggested it, would it be a direct swap?

With a 3 inch lift or bigger it will fit fine.the 00-01 had a different exhaust that hangs down lower so you need the lift for front drive shaft clearance.

They are pretty cheap at the JY. If you get one out of a manual 4cyl, it will most likely have 4.10s that you can sell/use if/when you regear yours.

I have unfortunately gone through a few.Truss fixes that!

Not has hard as you think... They hold up great to slow, methodical, smart driving. But I've broken a few and it always involves hitting something hard, getting slightly airborne and coming back down hard. Not really jumping. For example, I broke one flooring it through a mudbog in LA, nailed a hidden stump on one side, tire popped up, came back down and snapped.

The one in the picture actually had a ton of little cracks in it and was slightly warped but what finished it off was hitting a dog going about 30 in the middle of the night.

They don't like the weight of 35s when they leave the ground... Ive never broken anything on the inside and havent broken the outside again after trussing it.
