Default 8.8 swap questions

I have a 91 with 3.5 inch lift was thinking of doing a 8.8 swap this spring. I still have slip yoke was wondering if you need to do a sye when you go to a 8.8 my yoke is a yj yoke right now. dont take it off road much wanting disk brakes and figured might to upgrade whole rear end in the process. will the drive shaft get pushed into the transfer case more with a 8.8?

Doing an 8.8 swap is not necessarily for everyone.

A few things to consider:
Is the axle geared the same as your front axle?
Can you weld?
Have you factored in all of the new parts needed?
Are your tires tall enough for the axle? The diff is massive compared to the D35 or 8.25".

Based on your description, I think you'll be much better off doing a simple disc brake conversion using parts that are readily available at your local junkyard.

I currently have the 8.25 i havent got a axle yet i was going to search the junkyards until i found a good one with 3.55's in it i think they are a little harder to find but there are 3-4 junkyards in my area and i can get it complete with all brake parts for 130 but i think i would spend almost 60-70 for all the brake parts to switch to discs on current axle. I can weld and im running 31's . I figured i would have to at least run new brake lines on the axle and throw new pads and make sure i have good calipers and rotors for the new axle i read that you can get a adapter off 4cyl rangers to get your driveshaft to work but wouldnt mind buying the adapter new if i have to.

It's your rig, so you can do what you want.

My $.02......
Swap in a set of disc brakes from a Liberty 8.25 and your golden.
