I just quickly skimmed this so I dont know if it was mentioned but from what I have read and searched in the glorious interweb, if you like the 8.25 for its no carrier break and surprisingly strong axle. look for one from a commander. its like a qt1 or qt2?(haven't a clue what that means) but these axle are truly full floating axle, no C-clips. chrysler changed the axle sometime around there and everything past the diff is different and became a floating axle. just something to think about and know

heres the thing with fullsizes... they have V8s. 54s on ANY stock axle save for a rockwell will break ****, and fast when under load offroad. 33s and a detroit on say.... a 1/2 truck with a modern V8? yea, i can see that breaking easy.

havent a clue lol heck I dont even know if the commander is leaf or linked lol only reason why I learned was because I was looking to see if there is a c-clip eliminator kit and I stumbled upon a commander forum talking about how their axles got changed to full floating compared to ours. would imagine if you have the axle, probably just have to cut the stuff off and weld on new brackets or perches

Regardless. those ridiculous situations where you claim to be seeing broken detroits don't apply to our moderate little jeeps. At all. My Detroit is working great. The guy I bought it off says its at least 8 years old and now it's in my rig. Works ****
