Would you mind posting the link that talks about this special tool?
Most threads are very unclear on this procedure which is why I'm asking for someone that can list step by step what is required on removing the 8.25 axles when an ARB is equipped, hopefully someone else looking can find this thread and get a very clear answer.
No specials tools required. Just a magnet. Just finished installing my arb. It’s a tight fit for the C-Clips but easy. They are put in the same way as any other C-clip axle
Ok so the arb. Has a center pin like usual and you pull that, push in the axles and tada!
Correct. The only difference is that the ARB has a another pin, half the size of the cross pin that you do not need to remove. There’s a piece that cross pin goes through and I honestly don’t know what it’s point is. Just gotta make sure that it lines up or the cross pin won’t go through. It sounds complicated but it’s just an ordinary C-Clip carrier. There’s just another piece in it. Makes it a little tricker to get the C-clips out but there are no special tools required!

This pin that is being removed, is it threaded in like David's article?
If you screw 8/32 bolt into retrieve it, how are you supposed to unscrew to install this pin?
The exploded view shows the retaining pin for the cross shaft. Is the large cross shaft the only one needing to be removed?

1)
there are two 5mm pins, double check your pulling the correct one out. I started the other and caught it early enough,no idea what it would do if this smaller shaft was removed.
2)
Cross shaft goes in one way, the entering side is beveled and the pin side has machined "spiraling" on its end, this moves out very smoothly and requires very small taps to move. I spun the carrier back and forth to check how far out it was before fulling removing. you dont want to bump this out and not be able to turn the carrier around lol.

takes a little fiddling to get the ring lined up,buts its pretty easy
I had to pull shafts to put in the new yukons. The process is fairly similar to the factory trac lok/C8.25 axle shaft removal. The ARB instructions only say remove a 5mm pin that is 1/4 carrier turn past the c clip window, pay attention to this because there are two 5mm pins. as for the previously posted link, there is NO SPECIAL TOOL, so dont go digging around looking for another inner pin, this is exactly why I posted here to ask about this process. As per ususal theres plenty disinformation out there and IIRC that link (helpful intentions aside, thank you anyway BigDavid) wasnt even for an C8.25/XJ, and google didnt have Sh%%, until now . As cgeiss97 said its basically the same, no special tool, and I hope this helps anyone further service their ARB.
