Anyone...fuel pump kill-switch ? Lojack ?
has anyone ever put a hidden fuel pump killswitch in their xj ? I had my first & only '99xj stolen (after owning for only 2 weeks !) from a parking lot in downtown Chicago a month ago , and now i have a replacement xj on its way so i'm trying to figure out how to avoid being a victim again ! Unfortunately i didn't have any anti-theft devices (alarm, lojack, etc) installed : ( I've never had Lojack ... anyone have opinion on it ? Thanx

Easy enough to do.
Ive got multiple kills on mine. To take out a few different circuits.
If you just want to disable the fuel pump you can just splice into the feed wire for the pump and run it to a switch (with the correct amp rating) and just hide the switch under the seat. That is the most simple way

Came across this thread while searching for anti theft ideas. I'm considering LoJack, although there's this too: http://www.rmtracking.com/vehicle_re...rt_tracker.php
I'm considering the hidden killswitch. I think that'd help a bit, although I'd only feel secure if it's really hidden.. My other main concern is having it towed away.. How likely is that to happen to a Jeep with 33s? Or does tire size not matter? I too live in Chicago and don't want to fall victim to this.

Drop the TC into 4WD every time you park it and the only way they'll be able to tow it then will be a flatbet with a lot of work or dollys (sp?) to get all 4 wheels off the ground. Most people who are going to steal a rig by towing it won't go through the trouble of either of those things but if they want it, they're going to take it.
A good alarm with a backup battery and a starter kill circuit is a great place to start. If you can do wiring then you can get a nice 2 way paging one for around $250 and install it yourself. Pretty easy on an XJ (I used to do car audio/electronics installs).
Other things you can do is things like a quick disconnect on your throttle cable, remove fuses, remove relays, install switches to kill the brake pedal switch (can't shift out of park without that), etc. There's a pretty good list of things that can be done if you really want to get ambitious.
