I didn't even realize that getting an XJ stolen was a thing... I have people steal the d-rings off my bumper and have the gorilla locking lugs (one per tire)because of that but stealing the whole jeep? Is that a big thing some places? If I was to steal something, it would be a camaro or something lol. Do they just hot-wire it or what? Now I think this weekend I will run a switch to the fuel pump lol. Thanks guys. Got me scared.

A good alarm with a backup battery and a starter kill circuit is a great place to start. If you can do wiring then you can get a nice 2 way paging one for around $250 and install it yourself. Pretty easy on an XJ (I used to do car audio/electronics installs).

Other things you can do is things like a quick disconnect on your throttle cable, remove fuses, remove relays, install switches to kill the brake pedal switch (can't shift out of park without that), etc. There's a pretty good list of things that can be done if you really want to get ambitious.

I'm thinking of hood locks too, so when I do a fuel pump killswitch, they can't just pull extra wires off the battery. I'd be interested in that list, too lol.

Yeah, it can happen, unfortunately. I think if someone stole it, they'd know what it is and what it has. Because your typical SUV in any lot probably costs more than a lifted XJ.

I would just splice a hidden toggle switch into..pretty much any one of a dozen things. Just make sure it's out of the way so a theif doesn't just reach under the dash and feel it.

Sure a toggle for anything that has a power line going to it you can splice into and disrupt the line so it won't start. When my brothers Caravan got stolen 2 times we just spliced into the ignition wire and had the little toggle switch hidden up underneath the dash. But I would suggest a more out of the way hidden place. Quick and simple way to disable your vehicle.

i still think that using a magnetic reed switch with the switch hidden behind the dash plastic is the best way to go. you can use the one switch to disable multiple circuits. ECU, fuel pump, starter, ect.
