Decided I'd gather the parts needed to do rear disc brakes... I picked up an XJ D44 and I'm in the process of regearing (4.11 yukon) and adding a locker (spartan).
I went to the junkyard and pulled the backing plates, calipers and rotors off a 97.
Once I got home, I decided to test fit. The backing plate mounting holes (not the center hole) do not match the holes on the flange (on my axle).
I've been using this page as a guide and after reading it a few times I dont see anything where he mentions having to drill new holes or enlarge the existing holes...
Lastly, should I go back and the booster/master/prop. valve from the 97 GC and use in my Cherokee or will a 96+ (dual diaphram) work just as well?

ONly the crown vic brakes are a somewhat a direct swap. I did this swap a few yrs ago. You will need TJ RUBicon retainer plates. YOU will also have to have them redrilled, or you wil have to make a 3/16ths spacer ring and use your stock retainers.
When I did my swap.. Alloy Usa was selling the D44 alloy kits with dual bolt pattern and all hardware for 300 shipped, and that is what I did. By the time you buy all the stuff so you can put the right ends on the axles you are over 200.. so it only made sense to drop a lil more.

BECAUSE you have to install a new axle reatainer which means removing the bearing retainer, bearing, and oil seal to install a new retainer plate. THATS WHAT IT HAS TO DO WITH IT.

Also, aren't most 8.8's geared 4.10? Where as the 30 is most commonly 3.55? So that requires re-gearing, right?
As far as simmering down, if people would stay on topic, threads wouldn't get derailed... thus tempers won't flair.
Thanks for yet another reply that doesn't contribute to doing a disc brake conversion on an XJ DANA 44...
