2cw do the booster upgrade first ,then save up and buy a direct bolt on kit ,the brake system on a vechicle is a area not to play around with cuttin this drilling that welding this .http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.as...0&partID=55770

I disagree... I have done 2 disc brake swaps on XJ d44's. One using Crown vic disc brakes, and one using Zj disc brakes. I also just completed doing a disc brake swap on a 9" using weld on caliper brackets, and 3/4 ton chevy calipers.

Was trying to give OP some advice, and he lost the advice in translation.

Mud is a little more friendly to disk than drums. Just something to consider. Because mud can be hard on drum brakes

The gearing depends on the explorer's engine size. I got my 8.8 with 3.55.

It's the internet dude, get over it.
That's true, some can weld, some can't. Some can build/rebuild an engine some can't. Also true is the fact that anyone can take anything anywhere and have it done for them.

Thanks for clearing up the gearing vs engine size on the 8.8's.

lol, it's the internet. Really?

My master install kit came with new carrier bearings as well as outer axle bearings, but again thanks for playing. Anytime you feel like correcting me, please do. Unlike most I can take being wrong and being corrected, it's called learning and it's something I like doing.

SO where did you get a master install kit that include axle shaft bearings bearing retainer and OIl seal? I have always had to buy them seperately.

OH MY... apparently neither of you can read. Where did I say it came with bearing retainer and oil seals? I said outer AXLE BEARINGS... I got the master install kit from a vendor on pirate4x4.

The bearing retainer I will buy from the dealer and the axle seal comes from the parts store.
