Alternator Upgrade 95 Cherokee to 98 Grand Alternator
I have searched many different discussions and there seams to be some varying opinions. My alternator has a bad diode so I am going to replace it. I wanted to upgrade to the 136 amp 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee alternator. I wanted to see if there was any additional steps other than the grinding to fit.
It seems there is some varying opinions on voltage regulation internal or external. Anyone with expertise in the area it would be appreciated!

You will need to change the connectors also, a nice upgrade for the price IMHO. If desired you can also have them rewound to a higher output I did on my JY find before installing and be sure to upgrade all your battery/Alt. wiring and grounds before installing.

I added an electric fan so I went from the 90amp to the 117amp. The body size was only slightly larger and needed no grinding at all. It has no problems keeping up with my fan even with the lights and radio running. It was part number 15689V or 15689E. I got it from pepboys. I did swap the pulley but that was super easy.

I also did this exact swap on mine, you should upgrade the alternator charge cable while you at it, more juice is no good if you can't get it to the battery.
