if you are going to blow all this money just do it right and listen to these people most of them know what they are talking about. the last thing you want to do is ignore them and blow all of your money and not like it , also i haven't heard you say what you are using it for. go wheeling with some locals and see what lifts they have and how it preforms on the trials.

Really not that much more expensive than those black pieces of plastic everyone is GAGA over. Bush whackers. Sounds like something my mother would be very upset about, if she heard I was doing that.

To sum up what everyone is saying ill just say this. Do a lot of research on lifts and tires and what comes with it before buying anything. And keep in mind that the bigger you go the harder it's gonna be on your wallet.

i just don't think this guy realizes how big 8" and 35s is

people who have never gotten into my jeep at 3" and 32s always give that grunt when they have to jump into the seat and comment on how high it is and that's just a baby lift

^x2 8" with 35's will sit just under 12" over stock. You can't pull in your garage you can't do parking garages. It'll fall over with a strong breeze and you'll need knee surgery after a few years from having to jump out.

the seats sit about as high as new full size pickups but there's no steps or anything. it's straight from the ground to the floor of the interior

As for the IRO kit... I have their 6.5 LA and have had 0 major problems in over 140,000 miles of street, rock, mud, water, trees and sand. People will bash them all over the place but the arms are thicker and stronger than most of the kits out there, the 3-piece sub frame is really nice to have when something goes wrong, customer service is awesome and the kit performs very very well for the price. I have had to replace a few bolts (not the 10mm one everyone always cries about) and have had my tires eat a few of their old (not the new ones) brake lines but ask anybody who runs the kit and it gets the job done. Sure you could spend alot more and get a marginally better kit but you could also save that money and use it one the thousands of dollars of other stuff you need for a good 4x4er.

As for low COG it has it has many perks but it also has many downsides... If you spend alot of time in the mud/snow or crossing rivers, it is nice to be that few inches higher. You will not be blowing over in the wind lol. It all depends on what you want to do.

I actually think that lcog has become somewhat of a bandwagon. I plan to start with a zone 4.5" (full leafs) with intentions to stay round the 5" height on 32's.

Its not bandwagon its just that there's no point to the extra height it doesn't really help anything to be too high for your tire size

sure it does how bout the fact that you can stuff your tires without having to chop/trim your fenders to the point of no return. I understand that alot of people like the cut-up look, heck I kind of do to but for some xj's (like my waggy with wood trim) I just don't see it as an option.

Most people are fine to start at 3" and 30/31" but if the OP has the budget to to go 8" and 35" (which in my opinion would pretty much dedicate his xj as a trail rig) then go for it, otherwise be sensible about your budget.

There are arguments for both, just depends on your wheeling style/area. But you must agree that 8" is a bit excessive; maybe it you do some scary deep bogging...
