good thing i found this thread
there is a lot of info here but too much for me to read, hopefully you guys can help me out. I recently bought a 1998 classic 4.0 and need to start doing some work on it and the exhaust hangs down a little where the cat and muffler meet, also right where the exhaust connects to the exhaust manifold the lower half is kinda bent. so what i wanted to do is change out the whole exhaust from manifold and down. I talked to one of my buddies that owns a muffler shop and he told me he would charge me 150 to custom bend a new exhaust system and if i buy the new muffler he would just throw that on while he is doing so, he told me to buy a super turbo dynomax muffler because of its performance. Im not too sure how they sound but he said the performance is pretty good (i want something with a deep sound).
my questions are
1) is that a good price?
2) should i go with that muffler?
3) is there somewhere online where i can order the exhaust pre-bent?

For anyone wanting to tuck their exhaust system up its do-able and I have done so. The stock exhaust hangs below the "frame" rail by a solid 2-3". Mine sits level with the "frame" rail, the lowest part of the entire system is the tip of my turn down
Here are some pictures of it, sorry they were taken at night. Pics where no exhaust is showing were taken level with the bottom of the "frame" rail
