IMO unless your running a stroker or forced induction 2.5" flows more then enough. You'll probably loose a ton of torque with 3" I'm running a header 2.5" downpipe hiflow cat and catback I lost some low end
I know it flows plenty I just would like to have the nice deep tone

If you want to spend all that money on a FM40, PC also has a muffler and tailpipe kit for around $150 shipped. Or, you could get a Thrush welded for $25-40 and have a tailpipe made at a shop and it would be made to clear any suspension mods you might have.

Kind of hard to tell true loudness when the cam mic is pointed straight at the tail pipe. Thanks.

The tip itself is welded onto the pipe. The hanger is far enough forward that it still gets pipe and not tip. I don't have it hung, I had to cut up a clamp because of where the tip was welded in. I took the tailpipe off of my lifted 89 which Exhaust Pro's fitted for that one. So it's not perfect on this one.

Aside from somehow opening up the header and downpipe to some ridiculous size, how does a 3 inch tailpipe or even 3 inch cat for the matter kill low end? Scavenging is optimized primarily in the cam specs, primaries, and collector. Back-pressure is a myth in a fuel injected engine (except in an extreme case like putting a 5 inch exhaust on with oversized primaries and downpipe). Exhaust turbulance becomes the issue there, not back-pressure.
