This is true. If I wasn't looking to sell the XJ in the near future I would probably get it welded up. Really having to replace the whole exhaust to just change the 02 sensors and the possible rust holes. Looking for the cheapest/easiest route at this point.

It cost $100 to weld up an entire exhaust at most shops. If your going to replace it do it right. Hell you can put fully welded custom exhaust in the sales add. I personally when I am buying something used and they tell me it has new exhaust and see clamps I wonder what else was half assed.

Lmao iknow this is going to be a dumb question but can a 4.0s exhaust be so loud that it can be heard 1to2 miles away just bearly getting on it? I got this guy trying to tell me that hes got a full 3" race exhaust with slwomaster muffler and that he can be heard 1to2 miles away! I told him that I find that very hard to believe even with a open header!

Across an open field on a calm night? Very unlikely. It would have to be about as loud as a jet engine.

This. I used to run a 3" dump with a hollow cat and no muffler, you could barely hear it a couple blocks away. It was loud as hell when you were getting it, but just normal driving it wasn't loud enough to hear from a mile away. I have a flowmaster now and its barely louder than stock.

Hell no. My friends could only hear me a couple miles away when it was straightpiped at higher RPMs. I've got a single chamber muffler now an it's nowhere near loud enough now. In short he's a liar lol

I know hes just talking out of his ***** thats why i told him i highly doubt it even with a open header! I have a bunch of mods done to my rig to completely change the exhaust note from stock and now I have a full race exhaust combined with my mods and the most that you can actually hear me coming is at the very most 2city blocks away

Ive been thinking about putting a muffler, on my jeep, but dont know much about what sounds the best, dont want it too loud just a little louder than my stock muffler, but nothing too annoying. Thanks!

It'll probably what your looking for. I have a round magnaflow on mine that is more on he aggressive side but its still pretty mellow when cruising or idling

my jeep is running basically open manifold and i know for a fact it can be heard from about a mile away so but i doubt its nearly as loud with an exhaust system on there haha

Yes you can do it but usually it won't hold for long. Welding creates stress around the actual crack so for a part time fix it works but look into a new header soon.
