I wouldn't trade my MJ for a J10/Honcho only because I couldn't wheel it. I'd feel horrible if I even scratched one. MJs are still common enough (and share many parts with XJs) that I can usually fix things I break pretty easily.

As for stacks on a gas vehicle, I wouldn't want to see one on a J10. I still love ol'Dixie's XJ, though. It's a shame he stopped signing on here.

thats true, they are too rare to just go wheel and break like xjs and mjs. i've only seen two gladiators in person, one is in my friends field with a 6 inch lift and probably 3 grand in the suspension, 35's i think and not one single dent or scratch on it, but its covered in primer and doesnt run and the owner wont sell it to me. the other one is in the middle of some old farmers field clear out in the boonies that looks like its rusted all the way to the frame. maybe some day i will own one...

Default Lifting my '98 XJ

Hey there, first post on the forums, so bare with me.

I've got a 1998 XJ Sport, i6 4.0L, it's completely stock and I'm looking to add a lift, tires and some sort of recovery package.

Keep in mind I'm only 17 and need the best bang for my buck.

I'm looking for a 3-3.5" lift.
-What size tires can I run with this lift?
-Hoping for a complete kit, basically a buy and bolt sort of deal

I also need some tires with some grab, something with quite a bit of side lug.

Now, for recovery, I'm just open to whatever you guys find works the best for XJs, I've got a reese hitch on the back, so my rear towing is kinda figured out, just need ideas for the front.

If anyone could message me with ideas to make it look cooler too that'd be awesome.. I'll try and find a picture to post of what she looks like.

Little leaonards front bumper looks good, is cheap and has recovery points or you could just get tow hooks. Goodyear durra tracs have a lot of side lugs and are highly reccommennded by lots of people on this forum. As for lifts, you will get about a million different suggestions. Just do your research an buy a good kit.

I've looked at Mickey Thompson Baja Claws and Dick Cepek Mud Country's.

Both sized 31" in diameter. Prices are all close to the same, just wondering which would be my best bet still.
