Alright, thanks. As far as shims go, is that something I need to be looking in to and if so what degree should i get for that height? I tried googling it but all I can come up with is for people with much higher lifts then I intend to do. The only knowledge I gained from those searches was to make sure they were steel and not aluminum.

I have a few questions for my up coming lift.
1: Do i need to shim my leafs OME 3.5 inch leafs and if so ho much?
Doubt it. Depends on your pinion angle after the lift. I wouldn't think you'd need them.
2: whats a good check list for going to a 3.5 inch lift, I already have the springs, u bolts, shocks, new track bar, a new rear brake line for a yj, and disconnects for the sway bar.
Sounds good to me.
3: I've read about relocating the front brake lines, is that enough for the amount of lift I'm going for? If not what is a cheaper alternative to the pricey extended ones.
Front lines from the same YJ are longer than stock. 3"s doesn't usually pull the lines tight tho. Again, check after the lift.
4: Are new control arms necessary at the moment or will I be able to make it til tax season just fine without them?
Not completely necessary. I run 3"s of lift on stock length arms. They can wait until you have cash to blow.
Thanks in advanced for any help yall can provide.

Ok..............so, I was about to install my 2" BB today when I started reading the instructions and chickened out until a later date.
This thing is telling me to disconnect the front drive shaft, lower control arm, stabilizer bar link and shock from the axle, then the track bar from the sill, just to remove the coil spring.
Would it not be much simpler to compress the coil with a portable spring compressor, enough to slip it out?

I disconnect the shock, tracbar and sway bar then use a spring compress if I still need it.
Be careful with those things. They'll take an eye out.

i have a 96 XJ, looking to do a budget lift. i have searched but couldn't find what i was looking for. Grand Cherokee front coils into an XJ. How much lift and what years of GC will work? I thought i saw at one time that i will want the V-8 front springs?
thanks guys

ok, so im trying to convince my dad to get a lift for my jeep. I want a 3" but he says that the driveline has to be extended. I know brake lines do, but drivelines for a 3"?? He also mentioned reliablity issues, specifically the u-joints. Can anybody help me out here?

You can get a transfer case drop and at that height it will do everything you need it to. If you plan on disconnecting your sway bar then longer brake lines may be a good idea, but aren't really needed. You can relocate the brackets anyways. As for u joints, you'll be fine. Stronger u joints and wheel bearings are always a good idea. I'd suggest Spicers for the u joints and Timken for the bearings. You won't need to change those until normal maintenance calls for it. So a 3" lift and a t case drop and you'll be fine.
