you'll need to adjust it once it's on the truck. Bolt up the non-adjustable side (loose), lower the truck, bounce the front end around, have a helper turn the steering wheel until the body is centered over the axle, and have them hold it there while you turn the adjuster in/out until the holes line up. Then just stick the bolt though and move on.

 

ok so how do i go about moving the axle (when its on the lift or on the ground)?

 

mine is more towards the driver side should i use a pry bar when its up in the air to try and move it center

 

put it on the ground, start it, and use the steering to do the work for you

 

will I need extended brake lines with 3" lift?

 

Yes, you can relocate the stock front lines and get a yj wrangler rear soft line for about $15 from any parts store.

 

Hi all.
I just purchased 4 rancho 9000 and a set of rancho 3" lift coils for up front. Wisdom would indicate I just need a set of rear leaf springs that are also 3" lift, but I often see / hear that folks end up adding coil spacers etc to get the stance to level out. So......should I get merely 2 1/2 lift springs in the rear, or what? Help. Don't want my rear up in the air!

 

Leafs are often under-rated, so they actually give more height than advertised. This allows for some break-in since they will settle a little after a couple hundred miles, and it also allows for bumpers/tire carrier/cargo to weigh it down a bit without making your *** sag. I'd suggest matching the sizes for all your components. If you're unhappy with it after a month, add a coil spacer up front to level it out.

 

I have a Q guys, 87 XJ

I currently have a 2"-2.25" lift... Springs in front (no spacer) the rear is AAL.. I can fit my 31's on right now with rubbing... Im gonna buy a 1.5 or 2" Spacers and the adjustable rear shackles... as well as trim my front fenders... Will i need anything else? Im tempted to pick up a drop pitman arm...

As i understand it based on my research I will need lower arms at some point too right?

Also from my research, older the XJ the higher you can go without needing a sye?

 

You may need an SYE. The dividing line is pre-/post-97, but it's a case-by-case basis. You will need an adjustable track bar. I always recommend the Iron Rock Off Road double shear track bar. It survived two rollovers on my rig, and now another member is using it. You will need shocks and brakelines. You will also want to bumpstop your axles to properly prevent rubbing. You may need LCAs at 4". I'm not sure about that, but I don't think you need UCAs.
