I want members' opinions on quality and best brand for the buck on a specific lift height. I have read many discussions about 3 inch lifts. Everyone has an opinion but not really expressed any input on why they like it, or why they think that brand is the way to go. I don't want to buy something cheaper and have crap just start breaking or bad quality. I just want to do it once and have a great DD. Thanks for any help.

But I also don't want to buy the most expensive just cause its perty.

2000. The wobble was bad before the alignment but is much better now, still there over 40mph though. I put on 31" AT's

ok that makes sense. later models dont like being lifted lol. i have a 93 lifted 4.5" on 31s and i have no driveline vibes or sye or anything. i have an adj. tracbar tho. alright, did you get the 31's mounted and balanced? how bad is the wobble, and where did you get the alignment done?

alright well the first thing is you have to look at what you need the lift for. for example if youre a hunter or camper or fisher and you just need something that can get you out to spots in the woods and stuff like that, youre not going to need as big a lift or tires than you would need if you were going to be really wheeling it on rough terrain all the time. what type of terrain do you plan on wheeling or using your jeep to run? from there you can decide ok i want this much lift with this size tire with the input of members on here. the most expensive doesnt mean its pretty either, it means youre getting more for your money. if you want a good lifted dd that you dont have to spend a ton of money on then i would seriously consider a 3" maybe 3.5" full leaf kit with 31" a/t tires. that way there you wont have to put an sye or control arms or adjustable trac bar on. the best brands are going to be either rough country or rubicon express. those are the two that most people on this site can agree on are better kit companies.

Yea, I got them mounted and balanced on new soft 8s and I got the alignment done at local shop and t hey were asking if there were specs for the lift..I didnt think there was so I told them to align to stock specs.

Thanks for you input. I will mostly be using it as a DD and hauling the family around in the woods, farm fields and riverbanks. No crawling, crazy muddin, or such. I don't need ungodly flex or height. I was looking at running 30's or 31's. The rear springs have about 3/4" of sag and the front about 1/2. I don't know if that is a lot or not.

hmm. i think your problem could lie within that. see what happens is the higher you lift your jeep, the more your tires are going to point inward or outward, thus when you hit a certain speed or a bump, your tires are fighting one another to get traction. which is why you get the dw. since you lifted it 3" your tires probably went inward a certain amount. the alignment guys are the ones who are supposed to figure out where your caster and whatnot is supposed to be. they should have done the test on it before, and after the alignment to view the results. you can look into an adjustable trac bar and that will probably solve it but i would take it back to them and explain that your alignment is still not right.

i think youll be more than happy with a 3" lift kit with full leaf spring packs and 31" all terrain tires. if you get an add a leaf they will sag like crazy within a short amount of time. (ask me how i know). spend the money on a good full spring pack kit now and you wont regret it. especially for the uses youre looking to get out of it. plus it will look much better than you expected. here are some links of kits to check out. make sure you look at the full rear spring pack price, not the add a leaf price. the last one is a link for a rustys kit that includes everything you need in one shot including rims and tires. good luck man hope i helped

Is it really necessary to get longer lower control arms or track bar for my uses?

Well thats what I was thinking..the caster and camber were off and the tow was way off, they gave me a printout. After I drove home and realized it was still off a little I called rough country to ask if there was alignment specs for the 3" and I was told no, so I ruling that out and asuming the trac bar would fix the issue..hopefully.

If I go with the trac bar though..which one could I get for the 3", I see RC and it says 4" or 6". Is the 4" good or do I need to go with another?

Ok, so i have a stock xj sport 4D 4WD and i was wondering what all do i need for a 2-3 inch lift. I plan on painting my stock rims black and buying some 31's-33's inch tires. I have seen lots of different prices of lifts and things. But what are ALL The components i will need for a lift kit??

Talk to Rusty's. I just installed my 3" kit from them. I ordered it & 2 days later it was on my door step.
