if you plan to replace the leafs you might as well get a new leaf pack so that you could get rid of those blocks. Blocks is like a 4 letter word on this site

All right gonna place the order once i get some weighing in on here. thoughts and preferences? 5150's a little to steep for me, and once I deploy again I plan on doing my last build stage to the height and tire that I want to be at forever (doubt Ill be able to do it, but that is the plan) So once I do all the large amounts of work I intend to in a year or two I will upgrade to top notch everything. But for now I am going to do this:
Two new shocks in the front, two new 4" lift coils, adjust the control arms to match, 1.25 RE lift shackle (greasable) in the back. I all ready have 3" lift full leafs in the back (less than a month old). Heres the question. Which shock and if the 5125 what specification? Oh yeah I also have discos in the front. And give me some reasons behind. Im not sure if the 5100 needs the shock conversion kit or not and Im positive that the 5125 does. The links are at the top of the page. Cmon folks and help me out so that I can get this figured out and ordered so that I can try to put it all on next weekend

Hey Brad what do you think of this lift idea...I've ordered a RC 3" Series II Lift as a base with steering stab. Next I'm thinking of adding ACOS spacers, along with Disco's and a track-bar from JKS, shackles and tie-rod from Ironman Andy, and finally ball joints from a local auto parts store. I'm still a little iffy on the shackles and spacers, but I'd like to have the option of going a bit higher if needed. Mind you this is a DD, but I do go Off-roading on the weekends.

Uneven Lift Height
Hi all,
I bought my XJ with a crummy 4.5" (I think) lift job installed and have been slowly fixing it, mostly going to rubicon express parts.
I just put in a new set of leafs (rubicon express RE1463 3.5"), when I bought it it was on 2" blocks, I'm not sure if the leafs that were orignally there were stock or not. The shackles are aftermarket, may be rubicon express, they measure 5" bolt center to center. In total, I thought this would give me 4.5" as it is the set up on the RE 4.5" lift kit.
Here's the problem, the rear of my XJ now sits signfiicantly higher than the front. Assuming the old leafs were stock and that they hadn't sagged too much (2001 XJ) I am probably now 1" taller in the rear than I used to be. My front springs are RE1310 4.5" lift coil springs, I have a reciept for them from the previous owner showing that they were installed Nov 2007. The only thing that I can find printed on the front springs is "RM 60010". I have JKS adjustable lower control arms and am still running stock upper control arms.
I have rock hard front and rear bumpers, the rear does not have the tire swing. No winch. So the front end isn't loaded down very much. No other armour, although I am about to install a set of rock sliders. Does anyone have any ideas why the rear end is sitting so high now? Is it typical for the rear end to sit a little high on an RE4.5" lift? With the old leaf and block setup the jeep sat completely level, definitely not now. Also, I have bushwacker flares installed so I can't measure wheel to fender, anyone have any other ideas on where to measure, ground to bottom of grill and ground to bottom of lift gate? I'm running 32X11.5" tires and stock axles.
Thanks for the help. I'm putting in front bump stops next week, so if I have to install front spacers that's gonna be the time to do it.

2021... man does it hover? that would take all the fun out of wheeling and lifting cause you would never have to worry about tires rubbing cause you would be flying throught the sky.
Google budget boost...most companys offer a 2" budget boost kit. You could also go the junkyard route.
I know rustys offers a 1.75 budget lift kit for like 100 bucks. I dont know anything about it but finding two inch kit should be cake

Nothing wrong with the 5125's, I've only heard good things about them. Not a valving expert personally, but from what I've read 255/70 seems to be pretty popular and a good mix for DD/weekend wheeler. I know a lot of guys run the 5150's up front and 5125's in the rear and love the setup. That's actually what I'm considering going to when I upgrade my shocks in a couple months. Sorry not much help on this one, other than I think you can't go wrong with the 5125's. Good luck, and let us know what you do.

What kinda lift?
I dont know if your supposed to buy tires to your lift or lift to you tires but this is my deal. I have aquired 33" tires for my 97 Sport. I have removed the stock flares and am trimming the fenders in a manner I have learned from view threads on this forum. What is a good lift at a good price to accomidate my tires? Most of my driving will be on the pavement so I want a good ride. I also want a kit that has everything...ie transfer case drop, brake line extentions, shocks, etc. Please help!

I have a question about lift on my 2000 XJ. I bought an Old Man EMU 2.5 lift and ended up only getting 1 7/8 front and back. The kit came with new leaf springs, front coils, 4 EMU shocks, and a transfer case drop. Now I don't believe that I can run a 31 inch tire without rubbing. My question is, how can I get an extra 1 or 1 1/2 of lift? Can I just buy the teraflex 1.5 inch shackle and coil spacer lift? Will that affect the EMU lift that is already on there? Will it extend my EMU shocks too far? Thanks for you help.

It might do it for the shocks. The lift shocks usually have a size that they are made for like 2-4" lift and so on and so forth. You are gonna have to contact the shock maker, or Im sure someone will do it for you eventually. You can get a budget boost kit for about $100. Those boost kits are made to work with preexisting stuff so it shouldnt be a problem. Something to think about is brake lines though. Make sure you dont need extensions or relocating brackets. Maybe swaybar drop brackets (I did discos though)

http://www.rubiconexpress.com/Suspen...px?part=RE6130 no transfer case drop kit, but they recomend sye
http://roughcountry.com/jeep_xj_4.html this one has relocating brackets instead of brakelines, but comes with the tcase drop.
These are just two links that I found really quick. You could do a 6" kit from both places and have to trim less. You can just go to the links on the side of these pages for that. I have a 3" RC kit and Im not exactly pleased with the shocks. I hear a lot of good stuff about RE too. Some people say if your gonna go up to six go with long arms, but I know two people with the short arm ones on daily drivers.
Ive also seen people fit 35's with only 5" lift and trimmed to the max. If yu call up rough country there is a guy there named jason that gives a CF discount

Wheel / tire advice.... Please, so I don't go out of my mind!!
Hello all. I'm a noob here, so I'm sorry if this has been discussed.
I'm wanting to put a Rubicon super-flex 3.5 inch lift on my '01 XJ.
They state that you can put the standard 31-10.50/15 tire on this truck once it's lifted. I however like the look of the aluminum jeep wheels that are on the truck and figure that I should be able to put a 245-75/16 goodyear MT/R on this with no problems.
My questions are: should I change the wheels to 15's?
Is there a problem with the stock wheels being left on a lifted jeep?
And, is the 245-75/16 the largest tire I could go with this lift, if I keep the stock wheels?
This jeep is mostly going to be a daily street driver, but I want the lift just to have ground clearence if some trail riding is to be done.
Thanks for any and all help on this matter.
The lift I'm looking at includes the new rear leaf springs.
