Thanks for the tips. I think we should let this get back on-topic, though.

The only "lift" I currently have is blocks to compensate for the flat rear leaf.

ok, hope im posting this in the correct area.

I just bought a 2000 4x4 XJ sport a few days ago and am moving to Colorado in a few months.

The XJ's currently all stock and am looking for ideas on a few mods that will help out in the snowy colorado country side. Its my daily so I don't take it out on trails or crawl up any huge trails but i do enjoy splashing around in mud pits for time to time.

Anyways back on topic. Ideas on what to do? how much lift should i look into? I was thinking a 2.5". I'd also like some nice a/t tires but don't wanna hack up my front bumper if possible.

Also interested in a front grill guard. there's a lot of deer out here...
Thanks for the advice!

Stick M/T tires on it, maybe a bit of lift and you'll be good. 235/75R15 M/T tires fit with no lift perfectly. I highly recommend Firestone Destination M/T tires.

Yea, they suck. You need a solid/tube spacer. It's an engineering no-no.

Deal and BDS are rarely used in the same sentence.

Do a search. The kit is part # 434H

So should I yank my RE tc drop, which is spacers and go to iron rock and get the solid bar?

I was so excited when I found out about BDS. I wanted to buy the 3" kit and go try to break it, just to get it replaced. But then I considered the price, and I realized I can build my own pack and put spacers on the front for under $100. At that price, I'll replace stuff that breaks. As a bonus, I get to say I did it all myself. That's how I see it, anyway.

oh yeah i should have done the same. i just wanted new upper and lower control arms for some reason since mine had 200k+ on them and im pretty rough with my stuff on the rocks. but looking back if i did have to do it all over again i would just eith a wait to find used stuff and collect slowly or b done the budget build with a bastard pack and all. oh well.

When I can, I scavenge 'upgrade' parts like the ZJ tie rod, Durango steering box, etc. Control arms, and things XJ-specific, I look for sales and lightly used parts.

Anyone know if iro leaf springs would be any longer than rc? Or any other ones that would 5.5"-6.5". I'm sick of this terrible shackle angle and don't care to support then anymore by buying relocating brackets and what not. So I'm thinking new leaf packs and slider boxes

Awesome. Thanks! I'll look in to it. I've got street firestones which work great on the street but want something beefier for the snow time
