Hey all, I just bought my brother's stock 87 Cherokee Pioneer and have a lot of ideas for it. I'm planning on putting a 4.5" lift on it but when I went to decide which kit to get I found there were A LOT of different kit possibilities. For example what is the difference/benifit of a "long arm suspension" lift kit or a "x-series" vs. "suspension" kit that I saw on Rough Country ( http://www.roughcountry.com/jeep_xj_...lift_kits.html )
Also when I do lift it 4.5" am I going to need a Slip Yoke Eliminator or extend the front or rear brake lines or anything else for that matter? I've read things about a Transfer case drop or something? What is this and do I need one? If so where do I get one? What size tires would be best for this size lift? Do I need to get new rims since I'm still rolling the stock jeep rims?

The x-series is a full leaf packs. Do t go add a leaf. Long at extends the control arms, not exactly necessary at thy height. SYE may be necessary as well as an extended rear driveshaft. You may be able to get away with a T-case drop, which drops the t-case to create a better angle. 32 or 33 inch tires should work at that lift. And you can use the stock rims if you want. Though. If you plan on running anything wider than a 10.5 inch wide tire you may want to consider wider rims.
Also, other than a cold air intake and something like a flowmaster exhaust, what can I do to the 4.0 straight-6 to get more HP out of the engine? It seems pretty weak on the bottom end. I'd really like to get more out this engine.

If I get the Old Man Emu 1.5" lift kit, can I just have it installed or do I have to adjust or change other things such as control arms, tie rods, etc...?
( I'm not looking for much lift, just a little extra to run up to 30" wheels)
Thanks guys!

Question: I have front RE3.5" coils and 2" pucks but I want 1" maybe 2" more so would it be better to just get larger coils or just add more pucks?

Hey, all!
I have 33x12.5x15 BFG Mud Terrains, and am wondering how far I should air down for offroading. I have seen figures ranging from 2 psi - 20 psi, so if someone here could give their input that would be great!
Thanks!

I don't have bead locks and in Rocky conditions I air down to 12 -14psi.
On the street I run 28psi.
With bead locks you can air down to single digits.

Hey all, I have some (newb) questions regarding two RC lift kits.
http://www.roughcountry.com/jeep_xj_3.html
This one appears to be more of a leveling kit? It says it will make the front level with the rear, does the rear get lifted as well with this kit 3"? My rear is a little lower than the front right now it would look goofy to have my front up 3" but my rear stay the same.

This one appears to be more of a traditional lift kit and it comes w/ the control arms? Do I really need this kit for the money? I won't be doing to much off roading, this is my every now and then drive/BOV.
