I'm planning on doing a bastard pack, but I have one question I can't find anywhere. Having worn xj springs that are bent the wrong way over the axle, just from being old, will those effect putting the bastard pack in. I didn't think so because s10 springs are heavy duty and not as soft as xj springs but I'm not sure.

I plan to lift my '95 XJ 3 inches and get 31" tires, the only question I have is about the wheels. Will I be able to put the tires on my stock wheels or do I have to get a different sized wheel? Is there a tire size for my wheel?

 

Stock rims will hold the 31" tires, but you may rub on the control arms or sway bar links when turning to the locks. If so you will need a rim with different backspacing to push the wheels out further.

 

x2 on this. As far as "Is there a tire size for my wheel?" You didn't tell us your wheel diameter, but I'm assuming since you have a 95, you still have an OEM 15x7 wheel w/ 5.25" backspacing... to which, the most common 31" tire size is 31x10.5r15

 

My daughter is wanting a 3" lift with 31's for her 2001 XJ. My plan is to order her a Zone 3" (with full leaf packs), 31's and 15x8's with a 3.75 backspace.

Anything else I need to consider?

 

Not sure of what lift components actually come in the zone kit, but I know certain things that won't be included that should be considered. might need a slip yoke eliminator, for me straightening the front hard lines and a yj rear brake line was long enough for my 3" lift, may need shims for the leafs, rear shock bolts at the top typically break so definitely be careful and use a lot of penetrating oil, and if they break, knock the weld nuts out and drop a bolt in from the top or rough country makes flag nuts now. Lift might show wear in steering components and stuff that wasn't really noticeable before lifting. If steering does end up getting replaced use zj steering for a cheap upgrade in strength. Definitely a little deep and over board, might not need all of these things, but who knows.

 

Thanks...sounds like those are basically same considerations I had to be prepared for when I installed the 4.25" on my TJ.

 

I have searched and read a ton of threads on having a d30 and 35's and what I have seem to conclude from it is that it is ok to do. I use my xj as my DD and it will be my DD for the years to come. It occasionally sees some small trails nothing crazy and I do drive on the beach a lot. For my use, the 35s shouldn't be a problem right? Also, what gears would be best? 4.88's? Appreciate it

 

Hi Jeep friends! I just installed a 3" lift kit from Trail Masters on my '99 Cherokee. I still have stock sized tires on there as I'm trying to figure out what new tires to get. I plan to keep the OE size tires as daily street use, but I want to get bigger tires for winter use as well as for going to the sand dunes. I'm looking at 31" tires, but not sure if I should just get 31 x 10.5 or if I can get away with 31 x 12.5? If so, what diameter wheel will I need? 15 x 8?

 

I would go 10.50....12.50 wide look funny only 31 inches tall imo

 

My jeep just died while I was driving it's turning but not turning all the way over I've replaced starter and checked all fuses what else could it be thanks
