Yeah only thing that springs to mind are V-treads, swamper TSLs and Boggers. I'm sure there are more, but not many.

I just got my '99 Sport last week and have been studying my butt off and asking questions of friends on another, (non Jeep), site.
With some a little help and taking into consideration for what I am after, it's come down to this:
Zone Offroad J4/J5 1984-2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ 2" Suspension System Lift kit 4x4 Gas shocks

I wanted to keep the ride somewhat comfortable and at the same time give it a little breathing room for the 235's.

It's never had a hitch and the back end isn't sagging so I figure adding one leaf should be good in case I wanted to add a hitch later.

Now, my question.
On the order form it has two spots to mark off which rear end I have.

Chrysler 8.25 Rear Axle - Kit J4 w/ 3″ ID U-Bolts
Dana 35 Rear Axle - Kit J5 w/ 2-3/4″ ID U-Bolts
Do they want me to measure the axle housing thickness or is there another way?

You can tell by the shape of the pumpkin if you have a dana 35 or an 8.25 google some pictures of the diffs and you'll see what I'm saying. 35 is round on the bottom and 8.25 is flat.

I found this pix. Very telling.
Thanks for the tip.

if you were looking for comfortable, add a leafs is not the way to go. Trust me. I tried it on for a 2 inch lift recently and removed the aal real soon. Super rough.

Stick with blocks, then?

OK, I'm sure this has been asked a dozen times, but I can't find the answer:

I'm putting a 3" lift on my 95 XJ with 31" tires. Will this fit fine under the stock fenders and flares?

Does 3" lift require or benefit from a transfer case spacer?

Thanks

Don't like blocks either. Honestly, the best way is to get full leaf packs. The only ones I know of in 2 inches are the Rancho 2 inch packs. However, I'm not gonna lie. After taking out the aal, I just put in some lift shackles. Still not the best but ride much better then the aal. Only reason I did that though us because I do plan on lifting higher soon and didn't want to spend too much if I'm just going to get rid of the setup. But I've recently bought a few expensive things so not sure when a bigger lift is coming haha.

OK then, between the two, which is better - blocks or shackles?

If you have to choose one of those, shackles. But either option will do more harm to your leaf springs in the long run. Honestly, it sounds like you haven't been getting great advice from those guys about this topic

That's why I kept asking. I didn't "feel" right to me.

x2 on this. And like I said, I only went cheap because I do want a bigger lift. I got new dorman springs and a rustys 2 inch kit for dirt cheap. The 2 inch coils are fine, but the aal sucked. I had lift shackles hanging around so just swapped those instead. Although they are on the low lift setting because the Dormans have me about 1.5 inches of lift, but they should settle to an inch or so.

I hadn't seen that Rusty kit before. That's a good price for coils, aal & shocks!
Only a few Rubles over Rubicon Express Standard RE6160 2 in. Lift Kit.

Those with IRO's 0-3/4" shackles will give you around 2". New coils up front with the isolators and 1" spacer should even it out.
