Default Rims/Tires Swap out...Grabbers (red letters) getting stored

I found a guy with a 99 jeep wrangler with nice looking centerline type rims and new ATV tires on them. I went to myboltpattern.com and found the 96 cherokee (mine) and the 99 wrangler have same bolt pattern and lug pattern, and the only difference is the offset range. Here is the info for both vehicles:

5X4.50 inches
5X114.3 mm
71.5 front and rear center bore
1/2X20 stud size

Here is the difference:
96 cherokee 0 to 25 offset
99 wrangler 0 to 30 offset

Now here is my question for this... can I use these rims from a 99 wrangler with a 0 to 30 mm offset range on my 96 cherokee that is a 0 to 25 mm offset range? I don't even understand that part of the rims swap out much less its hard enough to change my tires without breaking a nail as it is.

please help?

okay i appreciate the answer. I am going to go for it since 5 mm is not that far off. I assume they will fit and get me through my city driving for a good season or two until I decide to bring back the grabbers for the fun stuff. Thank you for the help.

You got it! 5mm=.19685" or .2" or 1/5" so very minimal change. The difference, however, is that the rim is tucked inward by that amount. This will move the wheel closer to your control arms and the wheel well. Make sure to check clearance issues before setting out to wheel. Turn lock to lock and see if there is any scrubbing issues and flex it out to see if theres clearance issues height wise.. Id put my money at 0 problems if tires are stock size.

RC also changed up their trackbar setup which necessitated them adding a drop pitman arm to their kit too, whereas RE's kit doesn't need or use a drop pitman arm.

RE uses a combo of shorter leafs and lift shackles for their rear lift though (which IMHO is a better way to go) vs RC's full 4.5" leafs that use the stock shackles.

FWIW we seem to have more customers come back and buy replacement bushings and flex joint rebuild kits for their RC arms than we do for RE arms.

Also, we're going to be running a promo on RE kits w/shocks soon - I'll post up about it in the vendor forum here in the next day or three.

Whats a good tire size anyone? Right now got 31 10.50 15 inch right now wanna go a little bigger but don't know

When people move up from 31s they usually go to 32x11.5s or 33x12.5s. If you want or need to run skinnier tires some people will run a 33x10.5 "pizza cutter" tire.

Anything bigger than 31x10.5 will require some amount fender trimming, it may just be trimming some plastic inside the wheel well or on the backside of the bumper and wheel well liner.

Also keep in mind bigger tires will require you to recalibrate your speedometer and you'll loose a bit of power and fuel economy, and 33s are big enough to start looking into regearing your axles.

Yeah as of now i habe three inch wheel spacers so they dont rub I forgot about regearing my axles and they do rub a little on my fender trim might just buy some meaner looking tire but same size

ugh! Agreed- ditch the spacers. Adaptors if you refuse to get a rim with less BS! Usually 4.00-3.75" is sufficient. It will give you the same profile you have now. As for the tires a 32x11.50 is the next step size wise, but a 33x10.50 or 12.50 seems like a more common move. You could always get some 33x15.50 TSL's!
