Recommendations for a lift setup to yield 3" front and back with a 2.5L. Don't want to end up higher in the front due to the lighter engine but may add a heavier bumper in the future. Moderate trail use only. Prefer full leaf for rear. Thanks in advance.

the motor won't make a difference, get a 3 inch zone with full leaf packs.

Default OME lift

Hello. I just bought an OME lift for my 99 XJ. Suppose to be 2"-3" lift. Bought the springs, leafs, bushings, shocks and spring bolts. About $900. Bought from Rocky Road Outfitters. They said that I might have to remove a leaf to level the Jeep. After installation my rear sits 2"" higher than the front. I got 5" lift rear and 3" lift in front. Rides like a dream, but boy does the driveline howl! My questions are these, as I am new to this lift stuff. I also pull a 2000lb trailer. Do I pull the overload springs to try and level it that way or do I add spacers under coil springs and raise the front to match? How much other stuff am I going to have to add to front end to make it right? I use my Jeep for hunting and now just run 235s on it. Thank you.

You need a slip yoke eliminator for the driveline. I wouldnt reccomend adding to your lift, it will actually make your ride worse because of the change in the control arm angles, which youll have to replace with new longer ones, and also a new track bar, probably shocks as well.

First thing you should do is get the rear to settle. Load the rear up with sandbags and drive for a week or two, or tow a bunch and see where it sits. If your driveline is still bad throw a tcase drop in until the rear settles some, then go from there as far as permanent solutions.

. I have the same list and had the same issue initially (thing looked like a dragster)...the leaf packs will settle with time, weight, and wheeling. After about 8 months of weekend only use, towing trailers, etc..I am near enough to level now. Let me tell you, the ride only gets better with miles on it. It is awesome!

my jeep mechanical condition as of right now is top notch. done a lot of work to it last winter(hence why it isnt lifted yet)

I put a new radiator, new head, new water pump, and pretty much everything along the way...lol

I am fixing to do all U joints, brakes front and rear, and ball joints/tierod..

then lift it.

again, I am on such a tight budgett, because I have an 81 C10 I have been working on for the last 2 years... doing a frame of restomod...AKA lots of money...lol

My jeep is my way to work, and way to hunt, fish, and do a little playing. I aint going to SMORR with it or nothing, just some really bumpy fields, creek bottoms...and pretty much everything an avid hunter will get into hanging stands and what not. thanks for the help.

I don't know what my lift is but I'm guessing 3.5"-4.5". I have death wobble at 50mph+ and it seems that the LCA bushings are bad. I have aftermarket LCAs but don't know which ones. Are all the LCA bushings the same size? I would really like to just buy bushings and not all new LCAs.

I bet if you posted pictures someone could ID them for you. You should be able to buy new bushing, you just need to know the size.

Don't know but I like the idea of the reinforcements. The grease fitting location is down right dumb though. "No it doesn't" is my answer to the next comment.

Well, it's been over a year. Lots happened between now and then that kept the pace slow. We've finally been able to give our XJ some attention. Here it is with new MT Deegan 38 32x11.5's and Black Rock 997 Type 8's with 3.75 BS.

Had to trim the inside of the front quarters for steering clearance. Definitely need to do the full-out trim before wheeling. Hoping to find a few XJ friends in the St Louis area (moved here from Northern IL) to show this rookie the ropes.....maybe intro us to some light trails to get our feet wet.

Okay, my xj is my dd and i don't go wheeling at all. If i were to do a 2 inch lift, would i be able able to fit 33" bfg a/t's without trimming? Or is trimming a must?

That would be a tight fit. You'd need extended bump stops and that would leave you with very little up travel. Beyond that, you'd want rims with at least 4.00" of back spacing. Why not do a small trim? It looks good you can keep stock flares if ya want.
