Ok I have a few questions and Ill try to make this as organized as possible.
Current situation, 2000 xj
Rustys 3.5 kit with leafs in the rear, after two years I have added longer shackles and a 1" spacer up front. ended up being about 4.25 in the rear and 4.0 in the front.
31" duratracs (love these tires) 31x10.5x15
Cant remember backspacing but they stick out just a hair past the stock flares.
no SYE or track bar YET.
only pics I have on PB its slightly higher now this was before shackles/spacers

QUESTIONS: * END Result desired - 33's and bit more all around but more even. **** cant afford long arms****
1) All these kits with new short arms, are they actually longer than stock? Is the point just to have a stronger LCA?
2) How much of a PITA is it to get caster correct on adjustable LCA/UCA?
3) Is it a good idea to go adjustable, to be able to recenter the axle?
4) Sorry this has for sure been asked before, how bad is it to not regear with 33's?
5) 2" spacers up front or new springs?
6) DO I just need a new gear on the speedo for the bigger tires or is done by reprogramming?
I made up some relocator brackets yesterday at work working on new shocks to allow enough down travel to hook it all up.
I fully plan on going with an SYE and have my front XJ DS at work and ready. Im thinking of going hack n tap. (heard it works well with the newer ones?)
Have new sliders going on this week and Im planning out a bumper as we speak.
Thanks in advance
I tried to cover all the basis

1) All these kits with new short arms, are they actually longer than stock? Is the point just to have a stronger LCA? Yes they are longer and stronger
2) How much of a PITA is it to get caster correct on adjustable LCA/UCA? Easy, all you need is an angle finder.
3) Is it a good idea to go adjustable, to be able to recenter the axle? Yes
4) Sorry this has for sure been asked before, how bad is it to not regear with 33's? You done have too, but you'll dman glad you did.
5) 2" spacers up front or new springs? Either, but I'm partial to new springs.
6) DO I just need a new gear on the speedo for the bigger tires or is done by reprogramming? Just a new speedo gear.
I made up some relocator brackets yesterday at work working on new shocks to allow enough down travel to hook it all up.
I fully plan on going with an SYE and have my front XJ DS at work and ready. Im thinking of going hack n tap. (heard it works well with the newer ones?) A full SYE is a better upgrade.

Thank you for the above response!
Any particular angle that is desirable?
Any particular source for the speedo gear?
Its only roughly 75 bucks difference between SYE and HnT either way the DS is the same situation. Might as well do it the right way now. (my dads voice will forever echo in the back of my head!)

Ill make this as simple as possible My jeep Specs are
Jeep Cherokee 1997 SE
Dana 30 (front)
Dana 35 (Rear)
W/ ABS
4.0L
NP 231 Transfer Case
125000 miles
(Bone Stock)
My question is if anyone has installed/used the Rocky Road Outfitters Old Man Emu 4 in lift kit (The Trailblazer)?
And has anyone installed the High Steer Kit that they offer?
What about Iron Rock Offroad lift kit?
What do you think?
I am leaning torward the Old Man Emu lift kit and High Steer kit and using the Transfer Case Drop Kit for now, and eventually getting A SYE when I have the money
I have never done a lift kit before
What tools did you need for the job?
I have a few weeks before I order the kit just wanting some insight.
Do I need Tires suitable for the kit upon install? or can I use the tires I have now till I get new tires?
A response to this would be much apreciated

I almost ordered my OME kit from Rocky Road Outfitters until I found a thread on Jeep Forum dedicated to how bad there customer service was. I ordered from DPG instead.
There are a lot of write ups and videos on lift installs. Other than maybe some spring compressors there are no special tools needed. A BFH is handy if you don't have power tools.
As to tires its a personal preference. You don't need new tires right away but I think it would look a bit weird lifted with stock tires.

I advise buying from DPG if you want OME (which is a great choice, by the way).

I ordered mudflap brackets from them and I won't order from them anymore 20.00 shipping for a item that would fit in a usps flat rate box. And they are only 30 miles away
My setup is zone offroad 3" leafs 1.5" shackles
skyjacker 3.5" front springs with 0.75" spacer. Rubicon express shocks, warn 9500TI rough country front bumper 33"x12.5 tires
my question is do i need an adjustable trackbar / upgraded steering to make this thing roadworthy ? im on my second xj and have never installed a front lift before I really dont want to relocate my trackbar ?

You might also consider extended brake lines and lower control arms. LCAs aren't needed, but they can help with clearance at the rear of the wheel well.

That's a good setup, but you do need an adjustable trackbar for proper alignment at 3". Your axle will be shifted toward the driver side if you use the stock trackbar, and I don't personally advise drilling a new hole for the stock bar.
