Adding a 4.5" zone offroad lift to my cherokee. Getting 16x8 rims with 33x11.5 tires. Am I going to need rims with a negative offset to prevent rubbing or any other undesirable effects?
If so how much offset should I get? (-12mm, -24mm, etc)

why 16s? And a 33x11.5? I doubt it. I'd go with a 15 inch wheel and a 33x12.50 we don't measure in offset on jeep wheels. We use back spacing. Somewhere around 4 inches of back spacing works great on Cherokees. Lots of people run a 15x8 with 3.75 inches of back spacing.

Just want some opinions :
im ordering out a lift for my jeep to replace my sagging, sad face 2" budget boost / bastard pack, that I currently have, but due to financial obligations I cant just go as big as I would like / want

so I am ordering 3" front & rear springs with new shocks & ubolts & tc drop

the question is:
should I wait to order the adjust track bar, sway bar, lca & uca for when I go bigger or would one or a few of those make a noticeable difference that i should try and factor them in?

Sway bar links and an adjustable track bar will be needed for your 3". The track bar doesn't need to be installed immediately, but your axle will be shifted to the left without one. LCAs are beneficial at 3", but they aren't required until 4.5".

Thats what I thought..
I just couldnt remember since I havent turned a wrench on my jeep, other than routine maintenance, since I fixed my lift almost 2 years ago..

So weird to be getting advice, from you of all people..

Serious LCOG builds tend to have the coilovers run through the floor to towers in the cargo area. I'm wondering if it's worth the effort to mount shocks in a similar manner without converting to coilovers.

I'm thinking about my YJ, but the principles should be the same as an XJ. I don't want to convert from leafs to a 3-link, but I'd like more travel out of my shocks. The best way I can think is to move the lower mounts up so they don't hang below the axle (for clearance) and to run towers in the rear to allow for a longer shock.

Thoughts?

Default Shock Hoops

I have seen a couple of vendors that has shock hoops for the XJ rear (RuffStuff maybe. I see the set-up often on the go-fast rigs that run Bilstein 7100 and up.

search motobilt yj and look how he mounted the coilovers. I'd say you could simplify the design a lot. It seems like a good way to mount shocks to me. He built a new top for the rear wheel wells and made the upper mount to slide through. Hard to explain but you'll get it if you see the pics.

Default Shackles please help

Hi,
So I have this question...
I have a cherokee xj 88' with a 2" aal kit, I'm thinking in adding 1.5" more of lift via shackles on the rear,.. now,..I want to know if doing this will increase or decrease my pignon angle ?
I'm trying to avoid a tc drop kit, and I don't have the money now for a sye ... So my options are limited.
My goal is to maintain the jeep as stable as possible.

Please help.

I plan to mount ammo cans there for storage, but I'll take a look. I'm open to ideas.

Extended shackles on a stock leaf pack are bad. They'll break the leafs. AALs are bad. It's effectively a single leaf holding up the rear of the vehicle.

An AAL and an extended shackle... I advise replacing them with new full leaf packs to get your desired lift.

I second this motion

Ask me how I know and how many times ive replaced my leafs because i didnt have money or time to just do a full leaf pack replacement..
It turns out cheaper to just do it right the first time
