I have heard that sometimes the bolts holding the shackles onto the frame or the ones that go through the front of the leaf springs break and that you have to cut a hole in the frame on the opposite side to get to the welded nut to remove it, does this procedure weaken the frame at all?
EDIT: I am getting BPE's, how many sets do I need. Do I just do the tops or do I do the bottom mounts as well?

The bolts on the leaves are huge. You shouldn't have an issue with then breaking. The upper shocks mounts in the other hand are an issue. You only need upper BPEs for the rear. There is no bar pin on the bottom rear and the front isn't as big of an issue.

He's talking about the captured nuts spinning and the bolts rusting to the sleeves.
Exactly. How do I go about fixing the spinning nuts if that happens? What if the bolts rust in the sleeves? I am trying to gather all possible solutions if something happens. I am installing all this on Saturday afternoon.

I have yet to remove my leaf springs. I'm doing an AAL since my pack still appears good and am only going up 2". Shackles I've read now good things on handling wise. I'm trying the full length AAL from Rustys. If that fails I'll get a full leaf pack (OME) or the 3" and remove a leaf or 2.
I was told by someone I know that I should put air shocks in the rear of my jeep. I was wondering if, I did this would I still be able to go offroading? I'm also confused on what he is talking about.

According to info you supplied he's wrong. Get properly measured gas shocks (over hydro). You don't want or need air bags..
