There's no way an 8" travel shock with a 3" kit will work with 2" more of lift without some kind of extension or BPE. I'm running 12" travels on 4.5" of lift...

If you're currently at 90° and the no-lift relocators change it to 45° with the stock shackle, you'll lose a little bit from where you are now. Installing a lift shackle would then give you the advertised height from the now-45° position.
I don't believe that one bit unless you have something else wrong that's limiting travel even more.
As for the the shocks being the same size for a 3 and 4.5" lift, are you smoking crack? Why would the use the same size with a bigger lift? I can find part numbers listed for the kits but their shocks are listed for 2-4" and 4-6" lift. If i bought a 4.5" lift kit and got the same shocks from a 3" lift kit I would be pissed.
Im with Clown on this. Longer shocks will only allow more flex unless something else is stopping you. The stock style ball joint track bar limits flex a lot so that may be holding you back.

Depends on your current shackle angle. If you're at 45° now and stay at that angle, a 2" longer shackle will give you 1" lift. A 2" lift shackle would be 4" longer than stock.

except there IS force pushing down - SOLID axle remember? If one side is getting pushed up, the other side will be getting pushed down. That's how a live axle suspension works - as well as the springs will always be pushing down. It's more than enough force to tear a shock apart - i've seen it happen.

I ment a "hitting" force. When your flexing the axle is on the ground so your not holding the weight of the full axle. The spring will be unseated at full flex too so that just leaves the opposing leverage of the axle. Its certainly not ideal to be using the shocks are limiting stops for droop especially if your doing it every day. but having a problem from a couple times a year would surprise me.
