Air compressor
Anyone have input on air compressors? I'd like to get one for the back of my rig. Don't know if I should get one of the portable ones that take their power from the jumper-cable like attachments, or if I should get another type. I want to be able to air up my tires primarily...maybe air off my air filter....not much more....any pics would be great too.....thanks guys!

if your just airing up tires you can use any type of portable. what i did is took a old battery jump box and took the panel and compressor and mounted it in the back see pic below. its the yellow panel. if you want to blow out your air cleaner you need to get a better compressor and a air tank other wise you wont have any pressure to blow them out hope this helps you

I got a VIAIR 1007 constant duty setup from Chris at jeepaddons.com cheap. It was around 325 to my door iirc. I haven't installed mine yet, the TJ has been in the garage for repairs, but my friend has the same setup and it's amazing. 35s go form 15 to 30psi in only a couple minutes each.
I plan to put one on my XJ when the build gets to that point.

Sorry, but what is a battery jump box? How did you connect the wires so that the compressor powers up?
That really looks nice the way you have it embedded there.

I picked up a puma 12v compressor off eBay for a couple hundred. Wires straight to the battery but I put a fuse on it also. Mounted to the read cargo area. Not as fast as o2 set up but when my buddy runs out I'm still going strong :P

this is where i got it from the battery in side was junk so i took it apart and mounted just the switch panel and compressor there. just take it apart and remember what wires go to the battery in side and make them longer to go to your battery. put a fuse in and your done its not a fast fill compressor but its better than nothing.

In my TJ (so is his) the compressor will go under the hood and attach to an on/off switch inside the Jeep. The tank will go under the jeep to the driver's side of the drive shaft, right below the rear passenger. I will route a quick disconnect up next to the winch and another out back next to the tire carrier.
When I get around to putting one into the XJ, it will be similarly mounted.
