Aggressive looking tires but mostly road
Guys I see the sticky up top that said tire and lift questions but I don’t think I understand that correctly, how does it stay organized without having to skip through to search for your answers and such.......
anyways, maybe I’m ok here,,,,,,,,,,don’t wanna anger any angry peopl lol.
On my 98 XJ with 3.5 lift, the most recent tires I put on it were some mastercraft ATs. Just not cool looking on a lower jeep. 31s
problem is I drive a ton on road, freeway, and in town. Rarely thick mud, mostly just average trails when off-roading, nothing crazy.
Any off road tires that are not quite so loud in the cab and will last a while on road that don’t cost an absurd amount?
I found some old threads on this but I know tire models change and new tires come out.
thanks

I had a set of 31x10.50 Mastercraft courser MXTs on my Jeep I put about 7-8K on them then put them on my Dakota and they now have over 20K on them and still have at least half tread left, they are also very quiet for a mud tire and they do great on the highway, I have the 35x12.50 MXTs on the Jeep now.

On my daily (18' Silverado) I run the Atturo Trail Blade XT, which is more than an all terrain but less than a mud terrain. They look very aggressive but respond well on the street. I've got roughly 30k miles on them and rotate them with every oil change, and I'm confident that I can get another 30k out of them. I don't break them loose unless I'm in the dirt but I do tend to drive a zillion miles an hour on the freeway. Something to think about.

I have the Goodyear Wrangler Radials on my Jeep since its 2wd, so no experience there.
However, I have to agree with Trailertrash. I have the General Grabber AT2's on my Ranger, and I would get them again. Great in snow, etc. I have not tried them in mud, but they are not a mud tire, so don't expect a lot. They are a little noisy on the highway, but no more than would be expected.

Well I just kinda want something more aggressive this time, hoping to find a mud tire that’s not sucky on freeway I know it’s a bit of a day dream lol.
like someone said it seems those mastercraft mtx have good reviews.
i know the others you guys posted are good ATs, not sure what I’m gonna do yet, appreciate the tips everyone

i had the earlier BFG ATs and they hydroplaned in water easy and would pack with mud, instead of throwing it out because the tread pattern would trap it. Leavin me all slippy

I would add that I have been running all my tires with balancing beads rather than static wheel weights for over 25 years and 500,000 odd miles, I can wear out a set of tires and they will run as smooth at the end of the tread life as they are new. When I purchased my XJ in Oct 19 it had about 15,000 miles on the KO2s and there was a slight tire thump at hiway speed. One of the first things I did was to remove the stick on tape weights and install balancing beads which immediately smoothed out the ride and after a couple hundred miles the tire thump was gone.
