LOL. like a Pontiac solstice hard top look?
I may just hit the yards and see what I can find that's not as "high" off the actual sliders and see about doing some bracketry. I've got a welder, so no problem there. The seat it self is just too high. I'm sure there's plenty of seats from sportier cars or even SUV's that have good padding and support but just aren't 3 extra inches off the sliders.
Like them Tiburon seats tho. , , , , I'm thinking about seeing if I can get something from a newer Mitsubishi suv as well. I've a 14 and a 16 Outlander, and they are manual seats, but they are also narrow enough to fit the XJ, but still wide enough in the seat for my 240+ fat ***.
The Hyundai Sonata seats are pretty nice too. (2010-15)
Junk yards here I come. I'll have to do a write up in spring when I some better weather for it. (no garage)

Excellent to read, appreciate you sharing that as it saves me some planning time and worry. I have a full set of leather heated seats from I believe a '03 GC. Figured worst case, modify the rails from XJ. I'll pull the wiring out from the GC before parting it out as well k suppose. Thanks, Charlie.

Take a look at http://www.jeepswag.com/empi/buy2/. I don't have them, but I've heard pretty good things and they are significantly cheaper than the equivalent Corbeau, Sparco, etc.

I'm 6'7" and have no problem with space as I have learned to adapt as we all do. I bet those Corbeau seats are a bit pricey. I really like those Tiburon seats and I bet they keep you snugly fit.

FWIW, I just came in search of info for seat brackets for my '92. If you want very, very good seats, you can look for Porsche 928 seats (or I suppose any Porsche seats, I believe they are all made by Recaro for porsche), which are essentially custom Recaros made to Porsche specs; same seat bolt pattern as aftermarket Recaros, only the 928 ones are all leather, and they also come in a couple of different versions, with more supportive side bolsters, lumbar supports, etc., so you can use standard Recaro brackets. You can find them on fleabay periodically, I got mine for $350 for the pair of black leather WITH the porsche electric mounts. Heated, too. Most 928's were owned by people with multiple cars, so they were well taken care of and not driven a lot.
I can't use the standard brackets; too tall. I need to make custom brackets because of my extra long legs.

I still have to put in the driver's seat but I put Mazda RX8 seat in mine. Had to make new brackets but overall not too bad once you get one half done.
