aftermarket seat recommendations?
I know the go to is a set of grand cherokee seats, but I haven't found a set that I liked/in good condition/reasonably priced.
what after market options have you used that you liked? Looking for something more supportive than the stock seats in my 89 cherokee.
Thanks.

I run a corbeu sport seat using their braket since my factory braket was broken. It a bit stiff from new. But is wonderful now. My dad *****es about it being to stiff but I like it. Going to be replacing the passenger seat with the same one when I get the money.

Excellent to read, appreciate you sharing that as it saves me some planning time and worry. I have a full set of leather heated seats from I believe a '03 GC. Figured worst case, modify the rails from XJ. I'll pull the wiring out from the GC before parting it out as well k suppose. Thanks, Charlie.

Any one have info on what seats sit lower than the stock seats???
I'm looking at cutting brackets perhaps, but I'd like to find some decent seats that just sit lower. (I'm 6'1")

I swapped in a set of seats from an '03 Hyundai Tiburon and couldn't be happier.
The brackets were easy to fabricate. I don't have any pics from my XJ. I made the same swap in my TJ and this is how I did it - very similar for both vehicles.
Oddly enough though I used the XJ mounts and XJ seat sliders in my XJ and the TJ mounts and Hyundai sliders in my TJ. It just worked out better that way. In both Jeeps the sitting position and front to back sliding movement is basically the same as stock.

I really like those Tiburon seats! Do they hold you in well while off roading? Where did you get them? just on craigslist?

aroundincircles - I don't do a lot of off roading any more ... too old! The only time I'm off road is when I camp. I still go like Hell through interchanges though. I push my Duratracs to the limit!!!
Seriously, they are very comfortable and being designed for a sports car (some may debate that) they were intended for on road hold. With a good harness I'm sure they'd be good for off roading too.
I bought the first set for my TJ at an auto wrecker. I didn't know what I wanted so I wandered around looking at any car I thought would be a suitable donor. The Tiburon was the 3rd car I looked at ... but I had to see them all! I wanted seats out a 2 dr. for the fold forward feature. The price was $200, they removed them and I picked them up the next day. It was an easy job to install them in my TJ and here is how they look ...
I knew what I wanted for my XJ and was able to find several sets on Kijiji. I paid $200 for them too. The guy I bought them from was big into Tiburons and said he and several friends had removed their seats for Carrera, etc. replacements. An '03 (both donor cars were) is also of the age that they are starting to be taken off the road so they should be showing up in wrecking yards.
