after market seats?
my driver's side seat is collapsed under the left leg/butt cheek, so long drives are hard on the back. I have been thinking about replacing them with after market seats. Has anybody put new seats into an 89 cherokee? if so, what issues did you run into? did you find a brand that fit well? I have my eye on these: http://amzn.to/2bJ9y16 amazon says they fit. but I know that's only sometimes correct. But they look to be supportive while also being able to fit my slightly larger butt into them. Thoughts?

yes, I don't find them very comfortable, and to find ones that haven't been sun baked here in AZ, they want an arm and leg for them. The sun kills cloth/leather seats here in cars, so finding used ones is not easy.

Just get a cushion/pan from a passenger seat in a junkyard and install it. swap upholstery. So easy even I can do it.

Swap the seat bottoms from driver to passenger. Takes 20 minutes to swap side to side. I swapped them in my 90 three months ago. Sits nice now. Not terribly noticeable. Definitely not the ugliest part of the 26 year old Jeep.

To me seats are like shoes you should test them out before buying them.Do you have a 4x4 shop close to you?If you do see if you can sit in some of their seats see what you like.

there are some around, but not close by, 20 minute drive to get there. That's probably not a bad idea. If I could choose, the most comfortable seats I have ever sat in were saab 9-5 aero seats with active ventilation. I have NEVER been in a more comfortable seat ever. I would love to pick up a set to put in my jeep, and run the electricity for the movement and fans. that would be awesome. but if I ever find them, they are either 1) black, 2) torn to bits, or 3) just downright expensive.

Quit killing yourself here. Get a "new" cushion.

You are right. I'm married, but my wife doesn't dictate what I do with my car. I meant it as a temporary solution while you find new seats, much as mine is. I'm waiting for a pair of WJ seats to come up.

Can't use Grand Cherokee because they push my head into the liner.
