'99 xj AX-15 swap electrical (OBDl to OBDll)
bought a ax-15 and supporting hard parts(t-case, cross-member, driveshafts, pedals, ect.) from a guy on craigslist in hopes of dropping it in place of the aw4 in my '99.
the trans is from a '95 so i didn't bother getting electrical parts because i knew they wouldn't work.
looking for some information on the ECM and getting it to work, can i keep my auto computer and fool it into thinking everything is copacetic or do i need a ax-15 ecm?
I don't really care about the CEL but i read on some other forums that the timing advance is different between auto and manual.
If i need a new ecm how closely does the replacement need to match my part#?
the parts i bought were the closest thing i could find to a donor vehicle so don't even say it.
Im quite skilled with electrical systems so i can modify the harness as necessary.
I just want to know what Im getting myself into before i go ahead with the swap and find out half way through that its impossible or extremely difficult
All information is appreciated, thank you

As far as OBD-II all 1997+ U.S. vehicles have it and the connector port under the dash, you should have it.
As far as I know there's no special ECM for the AX-15, it just matters for the engine.

Shop manual pin readouts would be helpful.
I wish I could answer more but I am in a meeting. Search under my name and there is a thread where I find out I am running a manual with an auto computer. It has part numbers
