I will be installing this on my '95. When you guys are trimming to fit, are you shaving down the corners of the 1 and 6 runners where it meets the header flange, up against the head? I can see that trimming needs to be done, I'm just not exactly sure where, quite yet.

The manifold was a direct fit on my 1996. If you have a specific aftermarket exhaust manifold (forget the brand name) than there will be a small amount of grinding on #6.
What you will need is a power steering bracket. I have one if you have any trouble sourcing one.

 

people seem to have trouble with aftermarket headers, not as much with stock

Need the pump too? I was thinking it was just the bracket.

I have the newer pump, bracket and belt. I was test fitting the manifold the other night and one side Sat higher than the other. I am assuming the trimming gets done to the lower outer corners of runners 1 and 6, where they meet the inner 1 and 6 exhaust manifold runners? And yes, I have the son manifold too; sorry, I failed to mention that.

 

Mount the exhaust, and attempt to mount the intake, find where it hits and grind as necessary. Not all things are created equal.

 

I did the swap on one customer, didn't need to change the pump

 

And a 96+ P/S pump pulley is needed too.

 

I goofed, when I was gasket matching the runners. So, I ran out and grabbed another manifold, over the weekend. Any ideas, as to what I could soak it in, to remove carbon build up from the inside?

 

I used kerosene and then the car wash sprayer. Just do not use gasoline for cleaning. Kerosene vapors will not ignite like gas vapor.

 

I put it in a plastic box big enough to lay it down flat, pour at least 5 gallons of boiling water with lots of dawn soap and some liquid bleach. Leave until water is warm enough to touch, then start brushing with nylon brushes of assorted shaped and sizes. Pretty soon the insides would be clean.

Using kerosene sound interesting. I ll try that next time

 

Trust me, you will need the pump. The reason is, on the newer pump, the pulley has holes in it that allow you to stick your socket + extension through and put the mount bolts in.

Dunno about every year model, but on my 1995 I also needed a new belt, can't remember the length but the info is online.
