Default 98 injector confusion

i just purchased a 1998 cherokee. looking under the hood i saw that the injector plugs have been spliced. The injectors are the 99 and up injectors (skinny). Is there a benifit in the newer injectors? Why would the PO put these injectors in? Should i get a wiring harness off another 98 to get rid of splices and upgrade injectors to 4hole?

Thanks for the help, just through me for a loop...

The 4 hole injectors are a nice upgrade. I hate cut-up wiring and would replace if it were mine JMO though.

First, post up WHICH injectors you currently have.

Let's go from there.

injectors are 04854181 which is the 99-up style injector. more confusion...the head casting number is 7120 which is not correct for the 98 model year, but understand they do flow better. Now i need to find my block casting number to see if the entire engine has been swapped, or just head/ injectors.

The cherokee was purchased as a donor for my 89 comanche swap. Everything is swapped and everything works great, just trying to get some loose ends figured out. The cherokee was wrecked when i bought it and i know nothing about previous history except i do know it was a 98.

I know Cruiser....shoulda stuck with Renix!
