98 cluch pedals in a 96

98 cluch pedals in a 96
I was changing over my pedals but the only one I could find was a 98 I tried to intsall properly but the clutch on the 98 has a much wider pedal ( at the top were the bolt goes through) I'm not sure where to go from here should cut it off?
