Ok so i have a 94 2 door with a shot 4.0. I have a 97 four door with a shot frame and a good 4.0 with only 66xxx miles. Can i put the 97 4.0 in my 94 without any crazy stupid things to change. I get ill have to change some sensors or harness plugs probably. But anything real major that makes it not worth the time??

i would swap the entire engine harness and ecu while you're at it. shouldn't be a huge deal as the 97 stuff essentially sits in the same chassis.

it's not terrible but I feel it is worth the effort. shouldn't cost you much more than a couple hours at most.

I am suggesting this route because I'd opt for the obd2 availability. in all honesty I see no reason you couldn't just swap any differing sending units from your old engine to the new one. using the 97 harness will most likely throw a cel for the downstream o2 as yours doesn't have one now. not a big deal unless you need to pass a vehicle inspection.

I agree he needs to change the wiring harness and ecu for the 97. I would swap in part of the exhaust that will allow you to use the o2 sensor as it also adjusts fuel ratio, not hard to do but very helpful.

I don't know if the dash gauge panel will fit into yours or not but has more info in it also.
