After, beacause the computer will advance timing as it need to. At the speed it's turning the spark will catch the plug just before TDC.
I thought it was clock wise. Did you read that other thread where I posted the pictures? Did that explanation on how to install the distributor make sense to you? Also, did you notice how it worked for the other guy?!

Leave the pin in while installing the distributor. This will keep the shaft locked in place. If the cam or distributor are not orginal there's a good chance the gears are not indexed properly. This will cause the foot-plate of the distributor to not line up with the hole in the block for the retainer bracket. Because I had an aftermarket cam I had to grind off the foot plate on my dizzy before I installed it. this is what mine looked like before I ground off the tab:

Once the distributor is in, take out the pin, install the cam sensor, and then the rotor. Note on the body of the distributor where the rotor is pointing. Install the cap. Number one spark plug wire will go on the terminal slightly counter-clockwise from your mark. Follow the firing order marked on the intake from there.

ok tried the dissy thing and still nothing so im thinking my timing chain is wrong my question is i know there is only two stokes on pistion 1 a exaust and compression my question is on the cam is there only one way the cam is set up and do u match up the marks on the gears like from the cam bolt to the crank bolt diagonal with the markes closest to each other or is that wrong

With the gears turned in this position you can see there are 20 pin in the chain between the two marks. Some shop manuals tell you there should be 15 pins, but if your cam gear has 48 teeth and your crank gear has 24, then you need 20 pins between the marks, not 15.

What did you do to get it running?
Are you able to leave the cap off the radiator and watch the coolant flow as it heats up? Have you made sure you got all the air out of the coolant lines? And lastly, does both the clutch fan and electric fan work?
Also check your oil for coolant and vise-versa
