96 vs 97 parts?

i was told there was 2 different automatic transmissions for the 97 4x4 is this true? and will it cause a problem

1997 harness is a one year only harness this means 1997 doesn't match any other year as far as electrical. I'm not sure what else is stand alone on it. gl

Yes early 97 and mid 97 than a possiable late 97 not sure what changed in late 97 maybe it was to match 98 production parts.

yup maybe even 3 trannies.Not 100 % sure on a 3rd differant harenss but 2 for sure on the trannys.

The transmission isn't a AW4 so it'd would be a pain to swap over and the transfer case isn't the 231. It's either the 242 or dreadful 249.

Find a XJ to take parts from, not a ZJ.

242 is a swap in if the shaft is the same that you need to look at.
