84 cherokee engine options

84 cherokee engine options
So i'v had an 84 cherokee for a while now. It's powerd by the 2.8 v6 and 3 speed auto. The v6 is tuff it's seen 7500 rpms more then once but its a turd so question is what is the best option to replace the v6 with something that has some *** and is not to expensive.
