If there is already a post on here, let me know. I didn't see anything after a quick search.

Swapping a ford 8.8 into my xj. I have an AX-15, NP231. I'm going to put an SYE in also. I have 3.5-4.0 inches of lift. Will a front driveshaft out of a Cherokee cut it? Thoughts?

Thanks

Do you have the flange from the 8.8? Or did you buy a conversion flange?

You need either

1. The 8.8 flange with a conversion u-joint

Or

2. A conversion flange with the original u-joint in the shaft. But everything else should work fine.

Lots of places have them as its a spicer part (Spicer# 2-2-1379)

You can also use one off of a ford range from what I have read, it had the same flange pattern with the smaller 1310 joint.

best way to do it is to put it all in there a measure.
maybe someone with this setup will chime in, but there are threads with stock DL lengths you could pick from.

I helped my friend do the swap, and he was able to retain his driveshaft, so it didnt have to be lengthened or shortened. I just dont know the exact length of it

You can pull a yoke from a ranger with an 8.8 from the junkyard and use that Also. I think it was like 4-7 dollars. I did that and got a front shaft for like 22 dollars tax included from my local yard

And to answer your other question, a stock XJ automatic front shaft should** work with that height.. I needed a v8 zj front shaft for mine but I was at 6in.+. Measure from center of fixed yoke to rear axle to know for sure what you'll need
