I'm putting 784s in my Jeep right now.
I did not see it clarified on the first page so ...
Does the cap on the 784s stay on there when you put them on the Jeep? The injectors I pulled out did not have that orange cap.
I saw where the how to said to make sure the caps are on the new injectors but I want to clarify this is right because the injectors look more like the stockers without the cap.

i got pintles from o reily. dunno if you have one there. $3 for a kit 2 o rings and a pintle.
I DO HAVE A QUESTION THOUGH
i did everything right, but on start up, it goes.....tk tk tk tk tk, putt putt putt putt..... THEN idles SLOWLY up to 900. OR i turn the key, here the tk tk tk, then step on the gas it starts up.
what did i do wrong? i obviously shouldnt have to gas it to get her to turn over. im thinking low fuel pressure, but why?

I don't believe the pintle caps for stock injectors will fit the 703s, but i could be wrong. Just grab the ones from the junkyard and use those. As long as they aren't cracked you'll be fine.

What exactly are pintle caps? I bought a set of 703 injectors and want to get them in finally. But do I need new pintle caps? I know I need new o rings. I will ne buying those. I thought I can just swap injectors and need nothing but the o rings. Is this correct? I have a 96 XJ 4.0 ho.

the pintle caps are clear/white plastic rings that go over the pintle (cylinder end of the injector). Keeps the oring in place and helps to center the injector within the hole. They should have come with them. If not you need to buy some.

I swapped in the ford injectors over 1 1/2 yrs ago and posted all the above write ups and a couple more just for the late 1999 01 yrs, I didnt have to do and thing but swap in the new ford injectors(well new o-rings and etc,and reset the comp.) that is all there is to it and a bunch of us did it around the same time and shared all this info and more it should all be in the (SEARCH) for everyone.I'm not knocking anyone here,I m just assuming his rig is a early model thus requiring the soldering part ( not sure but would like to know) but nice right up any who. Also did your 1999 xj have the ev4 or ev6 connectors?
