Just ordered rebuild kits for them. Comes with the pintles, top and bottom caps and o-rings - $35 shipped for enough to do all 16 injectors.
By the time it is said and done I will have $163 in 16 refreshed injectors (Only 8 are mine though - the other 8 are for a buddy of mine) which works out to $10.19/per injector.

It takes a little work but I get them out with a knife and a small pair of needle nose pliers when I rebuild them. Knife blade can get under the lip, and then I use the pliers to pull them out. Another way you can do it is to use a screw and pliers (just be careful to not damage the injector). Run a screw through the filter, but leave enough to grab it below the head with some pliers and then just pull the filter out.

I was doing the screw method but I don't like how you invariably put odd angles on the side of the injector when pulling. I was ultimately putting the screw in a vice and pulling up but I did have to wiggle it a little.
I ran across a tool someone is selling that is basically a home-made slide hammer. They sell it for $80. I laughed and said I could make my own for a fraction of that so I think I will give that a go.

What is the determining factor in needing 703's or 784's?
The reason that I ask is I am doing a engine rebuild and have a good head from a 92 XJ as I understand these are less likely to crack as opposed to the 00 head attached to the engine.
Is it the head, the fuel rail or VooDoo that determines the difference in injector PN? Thanks for the answers

You will need 703s most likely

87-98 used the ev1
99-01 used the ev6 (some very late 98's will have the ev6 connectors)
BRN@KL - If you have a 2000 and are putting in a 92 head, you'll still use the ev6 connectors. The port end of the 703/784's are the same. Only the plug end is different. Therefore, you need 784's.

Tool I made for the screen removal. Saw one for sale for $85 and wasn't about to spend that so 10 minutes in the Lowe's hardware aisle and about $8 in materials and here is what I came up with:

No need for a tool to do that. All it takes is a screw and a vice. Find a screw that fits snuggly into the injector basket. Put the screw in the vice, and then slowly screw the injector onto it. The screw will grab the basket, then pull off the injector, it will leave the old screen stuck on the screw.
