yes it has been done. from what i've read...it fits fine. the oil pan hangs a little low so it is not so great on stock hight Cherokees. but is rated at 190 hp and 295 ft lb. so it can get up and go in overdrive! it only weighs 250lbs more than the 4.0 so that is not a huge issue like the 6bt swaps. the problems are the mounting. apparently it vibrates like crazy!! so it has been known to crack motor mounts if not done well. and it provides too much torque for the aw4. but i don't really think that is true because it is not that much more power than the Grand Cherokee V8s. and you can get GM bellhousings to mate it to an AX15 trans.
thats my dream Cherokee right there. 5inch lift. 33s. with my ax15 and the 4tb with 3.07 gears.
a guy on pirate4x4 i think did one on a small lift and 31" tires and got 28 mpg on 3.07 gears and he hadn't modified the engine much at all.
