To the OP, freegdr is the guy to talk to about lift and tires. He's got the biggest XJ outta the SF crew and spent years tweaking it.

they're not as dangerous as they are bad for your leaf springs and axles (although they look janky as hell)
on full size trucks it's not really a big deal. but on our little xj setups, it's an awful way to gain lift

And I can understand the money part.
I like it low myself. But that's probably my driving, LOL.

Yea? Well I ran 34ltb,s on a two piece amc 20 with a strong 304! Had a ball. And yes it did eventually break.

The AMC 20 was also known as the poor mans 9". It was a tough axle for its time. Only problem was the keyway on the hub. But upgrade to the 1 piece like mind and its dang near bulletproof.

dont forget to truss it also, the AMC20 likes to bend like a pretzel.
