241OR Rubicon Case from a JK
I have looked into this a lot and have found that I could basically swap in a 241OR 4:1 case from a tj and make the speedometer work using a specific programmer.
I found a deal on a 241OR from a JK though and I would love to put this thing in my xj. Only problem is the case has no speedometer sensor due it being in the front axles on jk's.
So I am wondering if anyone has heard of anyone installing one of these jk 241OR's in an xj (or tj even) and found a way to get the stock speedometer working. Thanks for any input.

CV's arent horrible unless they are bent. As a matter of fact from what I have read into a cv when in a straight line can be stronger than a U-Joint but then you have to buy a whole new shaft if the cv wears.

CVs are actually better than U-joints when they are bent, not when straight (though it could be straight as well). The biggest problem with CVs is that if you get any sort of dirt or crap inside the boot, you can chew up the ***** and totally ruin the joint in short time. Other problem is that they tend to be bigger than u-joints for the same joint rating, which may or may not be a problem for you

If properly taken care of cv can last a long time, and because they are constant velocity the power delivery would be smother giving you more traction. Cv are in fact a lot better then u joints, but they are a bit more expensive

There was a write up not too long ago in 4x4 Garage about doing this swap. Its not exactly bolt in, but it isnt overly complicated. I'll see if I can find the article.

Thanks for the input guys. I have found a few people who have swapped them, but no one really has a solution for the speedometer. The case I found already has 1310 yokes the guy put on front and rear. Man I would love to take advantage of this.
I guess the question is whether you can put a tailhousing from a tj case on it. They use different output shafts though...
